Let’s cut to the good bit. I’m unspeakably happy to say that…
My debut novel THE GREAT ORCHID HEIST will be published next year!
Casey McQuiston meets Oceans Eleven in this sapphic heist romcom, coming in March 2025!!!!!
✨ When Phil agrees to steal a rare orchid to repay a debt, her goal is to trick Lily, the rude and annoyingly hot gardener, into revealing the heist intel Phil needs — NOT to fall in love with her ✨
Preorder links, proof copies, a COVER (!!!) are coming soon and I’ll share these as soon as I have them!
For now, please join me in shouting if you’d like to by e.g. sharing this newsletter? share my Instagram post? verbally tell your technophobic friends??? It all helps!
I need to say embarrassingly massive thank yous to agent extraordinaire Hannah Todd, all at Madeleine Milburn Agency, and the team at Mountain Leopard Press and Headline, especially my editor Jenni Edgecombe. It’s an actual honest literal ridiculous dream come true to work with you all.
A million thanks and kisses also to my writing community, my non-writing community, just everyone tbh. I’ve been planning the acknowledgements of my book for several years (sadly not a joke) and can barely think about all the people I need to thank without ugly-sobbing. Consider this an amuse bouche.
Lastly, please feel free to avert your eyes while I take a minute to try and mark the moment. Authors always gush about book announcements, especially debuts, because we’ve all been dreaming, stressing, crying, hoping for it for YEARS. It’s kind of our whole thing. We’re soooo intense about it.
And now, this!!
I’ve written before about the importance finding joy throughout the process, not just when you meet big external milestones and yes, we love a commitment to pursuing gentle, sustainable, non-glamorous contentment. This is what it’s all about and is probably the secret to happiness, unfortunately.
But getting to share news like this is another flavour of joy. It’s fizzy and tangy and white-hot exquisite and I can’t BELIEVE I GET TO DO IT.
Everything is so weird and surreal, and I’m strapped into this rollercoaster with its inevitable ups and downs but today… we just get to say, hell yeah. This is something to celebrate! I’m terrified! But that’s fine! That why they call it a rollercoaster!!!?? I need to go and lie down now. Thank you for joining me on this wild ride.
YAY!!!!!!!
